This is one of the sadly underrated Punchbowl Series by Monica Edwards. In combination with the Romney Marsh Series these are probably some of the best pony book series ever written, starting as individual series with separate characters (Wish for a Pony - Romney Marsh, Black Hunting Whip - Punchbowl) whose characters then meet and have adventures and storylines together. Starting as 10 to 12 year old children the series end with the main characters as adults.
