This is a childhood find that I keep in stock at home, along with Comet in Moominland, for spontaneous gift-giving. It's a wonderful story for all ages that teaches important lessons in promoting tolerance between different people, positive body image, benefits of friendship, and taking risks, without being preachy. The sophisticated humor works for both kids and parents. The current paperback has retained the original, highly memorable ink drawings while improving on the color of earlier covers. If you're looking for an unusual find for a budding reader, this is it!
