Will deception be her undoing?
I've had Finding Lady Enderly on my shelf for quite awhile now, probably too long, but I've been waiting until I had the time to sit down and properly savor it like this book should be. There is one thing you know for sure when you pick up a Joanna Davidson Politano book, not only will you be entertained by the Gothic romance elements, but you will also be challenged by the truths within the pages.
While I thought the romance was a little lighter/softer than in previous books, and the Gothic overtones were a touch less, the power of the message was at the forefront. And to explain what that message is, I will quote two of my favorite lines from the book; "Many people who go out looking for themselves will become lost, for they look outside of themselves or inward, rather than up to the God we reflect." and "Never let anyone else name you, child. No one has that right."
Finding Lady Enderly is another lovely novel filled with period atmosphere from a wonderful author. Joanna Davdison Politano brings her Victorian characters to life in full vivid color. She expertly draws her readers into the era and into the lives of those characters. Characters who each have their own motives and agenda, not always doing or even being what you expect them to.
An amazing story, Finding Lady Enderly is a must read for fans of historical fiction. The depth of storytelling belies the relatively recent debut of the author. Joanna Davidson Politano is a master of her craft. I will close with another of my favorite quotes, "People are often afraid to truly look into the heart of who they are, because those inner rooms echo so loudly with one lonely question: Am I enough?"
(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
