Like all of the bookts in the Medieval Academy Reprints for Teaching (MART) series, this book is uncommonly helpful for something written by a scholar. Ganshof writes in away that is accessible and informative, and the book is structured in a format designed to easily bring the reader to grips with the beginnings and he evolution of Feudal institutions, paying very close attention to differences and similarities (largely revealed through the language of legal documents and church histories) in the practice of feudalism over several centuries and several places in medieval Europe.
