Both of these are solid works and good choices to show off both technical and interpretive skills of an up-and-coming ensemble. The program concludes with a trio by Philippe Hersant, a set of variations inspired by the carillon song of the Church of Saint Geneviève. By far the most technically demanding work on the program, Hersant's composition is brilliant for its use of texture, tonality, and color; it's a welcome new addition to the repertoire. Despite a relatively long span playing together, the Trio Cérès appears to have noticeable problems playing well together.
