These two pieces also showcase the work of the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich, and it is certainly a hopeful sign that such a thing exists. Mostly the program consists of songs by Fanny Mendelssohn, here referred to by her married name, Fanny Hensel. She was quite prolific, and Reiss delves into some lesser-known pieces. This is all to the good. On one hand, the composer stated that her talents were best suited to songs and that she struggled with larger forms.
