Even though it's older, I bought it for my Mom on Mothers Day because she was looking for it. It was a bestseller in it's day (mid 1970's).
I read it before giving it to her and thought it was a great read. Mr Coopers musing about the passing of time and how we see things make a lot of sense today too. Have since heard from my Mom that she loved it to, for the same reasons I did. And FYI, much of what we like to read is different, but we both liked this.

Families
My interest in Wyatt Cooper's FAMILIES: A MEMOIR AND A CELEBRATION came about through Anderson Cooper, the second son of the author--presently, an influential CNN Anchor and Reporter.
"Families" is an honest, sensitive book on family involvement--in history and immediate experience. The book unfolds as a recollection of the author's experiences intertwined with philosophical commentary on family. It is a fascinating narrative, written in expressive detail, with intelligence, depth and humor. The book is a well-constructed balance of personal and social perspective. It is a beautifully thoughtful memoir.
