Then there are the hundreds of "sure things" we take for granted that are in fact not so sure. This precarious reality gives some people anxiety. Artist and retired therapist Erik Douglas Johnson has compiled his third book of quotes, this time by religious thinkers, who accept the reality of doubt. Why? To quell anxiety. Regardless of how certain we are about various things at any given time, uncertainty is a fact of life. Accepting this reality beats the alternatives: fear, worry, ruminating, trying to control situations and people.
