"Although evidence-based practice (EBP) has long been a key strategy for achieving the quadruple aim in healthcare, clinicians throughout the globe still do not consistently implement it. There are multiple barriers to the implementation of EBP by clinicians that persist, including: inadequate knowledge and skills; lack of necessary resources and support by leaders and managers; cultures that remain steeped in tradition; and inadequate numbers of EBP mentors in healthcare systems (Melnyk, 2021). It currently takes an average of 15 years to translate findings from research into clinical practice to improve care and outcomes, which is unacceptable if healthcare safety, quality and population health outcomes are going to improve (Khan et al., 2021; Melnyk, 2021). Metrics for patient safety, including rates of central-line-associated bloodstream infections, falls, and pressure ulcers, have sharply increased during the COVID-19 pandemic after two decades of improvement (Fleisher et al., 2022). Therefore, urgent action is needed in both clinical practice and academic settings that should prepare clinicians and students to be competent in EBP if the quadruple aim is to be achieved in the near future"--
