First I have to admit this book was a very light and comfortable read. I am one of those readers that will pick up a book based on its mention in another author?s story. With this book I was reading ?Nervous? by Zane when it was mentioned in the story as a great book.
I was able to fly through it in a couple of days and enjoyed the time with the story. It?s a first-person narrative as told by several characters. This office based story was full of drama. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Avonte` doing all he could to play those women while selfishly climbing to the top. Ina never stopped shocking me with her exploits as she degraded from a business woman to a party girl. Of course, best of all was reading Nakia?s relationships with Orlando and Terence. As a guy I was completely floored by how much Orlando continued to accept Nakia?s overly defensive nature. The story ended well with a nice neat package conclusion.
Although the storyline was entertaining I can only give the story 3 stars. I couldn?t get past the disconnected timeline. As you read through the text be prepared for jumps in time that seem to span weeks and/or months. This created some sense that I was watching my favorite show and noticed that I missed a few episodes. I felt that the author had a page limit issue similar to a screenwriter?s need to edit the movie down to 90minutes. I would have liked to see more character development, get a chance to see the motivators behind the drama.
