Sometimes Carson takes too many vocals, but on this release he only engages in relatively brief singing on five of the 13 selections; his colorful cornet solos compensate. Carson shares the solo space with clarinetist Kim Cusack, trombonist Tom Bartlett and pianist Pete Clute, while banjoist Debbie Schreyer, tuba player Mike Wallbridge, and drummer Wayne Jones are fine in support.
