Eventyr , one learns here, is "a Norwegian word that conjures up fairy tales, stories of adventure, and stories of fantasy." The music, from the late 19th and 20th centuries, certainly lives up to this description, and with the exception of the Ballade, Op. 24, of Grieg, it is not well known, perhaps even in Norway. The opening Eolsharpa ("Aeolian Harp") of Geirr Tveitt has been recorded only once before, by the composer.
