When I was an undergrad in Philosophy I took a course on Metaphysics where we read Book I of The Ethics. It was far beyond my ability at the time, but after re-visiting it, and using some secondary sources, I've discovered that Spinoza's philosophy is a rich source of insight. I'm not sure I understand the whole of it, but the parts I do understand have changed my outlook on life.
