The substance of these pages was delivered at the First Baptist Church, of Edwardsville, and we feel that no apology is needed for publishing the same, though it is presented in a very imperfect form. To have the history of the Bible amongst the most constant bible reading people in the world must be an interesting matter to all. The history of the Welsh magazines is a part of the history of religion in Wales, and is important apart from its literary value. How the Welsh bible and magazines were left out of such a work as the "Encyclopedia Britannica" we are at a loss to understand. We hope, however, that the next edition of that excellent work will include articles on these subjects. Until something better will appear, these two essays, we hope, will be of help to those who desire to know more than they do in this respect. Shall we also hope that they may "create" that desire in others who have it not? The article on the First Welsh Biblical Dictionary is given partly in order to do justice to the author of that book.
