Excerpt from Epigraphia Carnatica, Vol. 16: Supplementary Inscriptions In The Tumkur District HE present volume happens to be the third one in the new series of Epigraphia Carnatica Volumes; it contains the supplementary inscriptions collected-'in the Tumkur District by Mr. R. Narasimhachar, between the years 1906 and 1922. The first two volumes in the series, vez., Ep???graphia Carnatica Volumes XIV and XV containing the texts and transliteration, new and rex???ised, collected in the old Mysore District which included the present Mandya District and in the Hassan District respectively, were published by Dr. M. H. Krishna in the year 1942. Though the text of the present volume was printed as long back as 1923, further progress appears to have been very slow due to various reasons thus the printing of the transliteration of about 270 inscriptions which the present volume contains has taken over seven years to complete. As in the previous two volumes, the present volume contains only a dynastic table giving 1d a classified form a very brief summary of the contents of the inscriptions published in the place of translations. It is hoped to bring out the remaining volumes which are already overdue without further delay with the earnest cc-operation of the members of the staff of the Department and the authorities of the Government Branch Press, Mysore.
