The Niger Delta region is one of the richest natural resource base in modern society. The region had struggled to have a better footing, from the struggles for resource control, liberation of women from taxation, state creation and sea port development. The region has attracted global attention due to its massive oil and gas reserve, marine resource and unquantifiable solid minerals. Nevertheless, decades of resource exploitation has never affected the region positively, resulting to hunger and tensions. The problem of the region is an interplay of economic, social and political over riding influence wherein, regional marginalisation suppresses the full utilisation of resources likewise the translation of resource proceeds into economic transformation of indigenous communities. The fewer seaports that hold a promising future of the region has been abandoned, coupled with the ecological, food and political crises that characterised the oil-enriched maritime zone. The book is an attempt to awaken the consciousness of the indigenous oil rich Niger Delta to engage with relevant authorities in rehabilitation, reform and rebirth of blue-related investment.
