I had long since wanted to buy this book, and at last it arrived. I had high hopes and unfortunately was disappointed. However, objectively speaking, it's not a bad book. It outlines Israel's wars, hardly missing a battle, and covering both sides of the conflict.
On the other hand, the book suffers from sloppy fact-checking and sub-par transliterations of Hebrew and Arabic names. How Dupuy transliterated the Syrian village Kafr Harib as Kfar Harel is beyond me. Casualty figures are sometimes given in estimates that had been long discredited by the time this book was written, and there are a lot of a similar hiccups.
Having said that, I realize that most readers interested in the conflict will not require complete accuracy on these small facts and can get the correct information on Wikipedia anyway. The book makes for good and easy reading, which will leave most people, who have few to no other books on the MIdeast conflict, satisfied.
