It was first published in 1801, and from that period to 1813 (the year of the author's decease), it passed through no less than six editions, all Of them enriched by his personal revisal and correction. Since his decease the work has deservedly increased in public estimation, and has been frequently re-published. To the present edition some necessary additions to the original text have been made, and some remarkable typographical errors corrected.
