Eine Passage der Rede, sp???ter selbstst???ndig unter dem Titel 'Produktive und reproduktive Filmkunst' verbreitet, diskutiert u. a. "zwei wunderbare[...] Aufnahmen aus dem PANZERKREUZER POTEMKIN", dem gerade in Deutschland in den Kinos laufenden gro???en Film des sowjetischen Regisseurs Sergej Eisenstein. Bal???zs konnte wohl kaum die auf dem Fu???e folgende heftige Reaktion Eisensteins voraussehen, in der dieser dem geb???rtigen Ungarn bildlich vorwarf, "die Schere" vergessen zu haben. Der 'Disput', den Loewy immerhin als "legend???ren Streit" bezeichnet, wirkt auf den ersten Blick wie eine randst???ndige Anekdote. Eine kleine Auseinandersetzung, die durch ihre prominenten Akteure in Erinnerung geblieben ist, zumal sie nur aus zwei relativ kurzen Texten besteht. Doch w???rde man die Angelegenheit damit zu leitfertig abtun. Allein die Tatsache, dass die Kontroverse ???ber Jahrzehnte hinweg immer wieder das Interesse geweckt hat, l???sst doch die Frage aufkommen, ob mehr dahinter steckt. Wie Diederichs meint, kann die "Entwicklung der ersten 40 Jahre film???sthetischer Theorie" in vier Stufen unterteilt werden: die der "Diskussion der Kunstf???higkeit des Films", der "Schauspielertheorie", der "Kameratheorie" und der "Entwickelte[n] Formtheorie". Dabei gilt ihm Bal???zs' Buch 'Der sichtbare Mensch' als "das Haupt- und Abschlusswerk der 'Schauspielertheorie'", das Bal???zs-Werk 'Der Geist des Films' als Werk der dritten Stufe, der 'Kameratheorie', in dem Bal???zs "selbst zum Montageapologeten geworden" sei und gleichzeitig die Montagetheorie Eisensteins, "
