Seller's Description:
Good in Very Good+ jacket. 4to-over 9¾"-12" tall. "What you call a ghetto, I call my home." This was said to me when I first came to East Harlem and during the two years that I photographed people of East 100th Street, it stayed with me." Full page b&w photos. GOOD HARDCOVER, book has a waterstain on the upper page edge of book, the stain doesn't not affect the images. The binding is tight, and otherwise its a nice clean copy. If you can live with the waterstain and some evidence of the pages stuck together in small areas within the stain, I can sell you this book. Some toning of paper along page edges. The clear plastic dust jacket is in very good+ condition.

Seller's Description:
Near Fine. In oversized stiff photographic covers measuring 11 x 12 inches. Unpaginated, a first edition copy of Davidson's series of classic black and white images, taken over the period of 2 years in one block of East Harlem. A small diagonal crease along the lower right hand page corner and a minute tear, else a beautiful and clean copy of this very sought after title. No inscriptions. Davidson started his career working with a small hand-held camera in the tradition of Gene Smith and other famous photojournalists, often working without being noticed or attempting to fade into the background. For the East 100th Street work he determined to face his subjects openly, taking a large format camera on a tripod together with flash into their appartments. The picture that emerged was a collaboration between photographer and the subjects, the inhabitants of one of the toughest blocks in New York.

Very Good in fair jacket. First printing, 1970. Large quarto, original white-gray buckram with photographic pastedown to front cover, glassine dust jacket printed and titled. About very good copy in worn glassine: binding shows slight bowing, some soil and faint blotches, jacket with major loss to rear panel, some longish tears and light chipping to front panel. Text is nice and clean but shows age toning and faint tanning to margins and edges. Still a handsome book and nice condition with the photos very nice and glassine jacket now protected from further damage with fresh mylar over-jacket. Looks better than it catalogs. Classic!
