Danish metal legends King Diamond offer up Dreams of Horror, a career-spanning two-disc set from Metal Blade. Singer King Diamond and longtime guitarist Andy LaRocque oversaw the remastering process from the original tapes in this collection that culls the best of their Roadrunner years (1986-1990) and their years with Metal Blade following their mid-'90s re-formation. The first disc covers the Roadrunner era, from early cuts like "The Candle" and "The Family Ghost" up to LaRocque's dramatic instrumental "Insanity" from 1990's The Eye. Following a break in the early '90s when Diamond re-formed his seminal thrash metal group Mercyful Fate, he returned in 1994, signing a deal with Metal Blade that would carry the band into the next century beginning with 1995's The Spider's Lullabye all the way up to their 2007 concept album Give Me Your Soul...Please. As far as King Diamond compilations go, this 23-track set is the place to start. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
