Some acts are more aggressive (Mudhoney, Babes in Toyland, Filter, Ministry, L7), some fall more in the post-grunge category (Better Than Ezra, Seven Mary Three, Candlebox, Spacehog), and some are groundbreaking cult artists who scored at least a little crossover success in the alternative mainstream (Afghan Whigs, Screaming Trees, Primal Scream, the Butthole Surfers, Dinosaur Jr.).
