Following a conversation on the street the author dreams about a girl he hasn't seen since the 4th grade. Soon after he writes a poem. And then a letter to whomever she is now. Dona of the Mountains is written in three sections, each accompanied by images of a mythical female figure transforming in a psychic landscape. The author wonders why he dreamt of her as the past swirls into the present and the present is full of longing. Steven McCabe is an interdisciplinary artist working with text, image and the moving image. He is the author of six books published by small Canadian presses. Most recently he authored Meme-Noir, a collection of non-linear autobiographical vignettes. His recent experiments with GIFS can be found at his blog poemimage.
