In a magic forest called Zamphir on a remote uncharted island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, there lives a peaceful and stable community of about 700 dogs. Most of the dogs have long, beautiful tails but a small number have short tails and therefore are not completely accepted by some of the other dogs. The community is guarded by a cadre of strong and, usually, reliable dogs. One day, in a terrible lapse of judgement, the guard dogs allow a band of roving coyotes to steal the provisions that the dog community had saved for the winter months. To avoid being chastised by the ruling elders of the community, the guard dogs, with the help of evil associates, concoct a story that puts the blame on the innocent short-tailed dogs. Despite their denials, the short-tailed dogs cannot escape the frame-up. Their situation appears hopeless and they face a terrible and dangerous future. However, one guard dog is remorseful at having participated in this horrible crime. But is it too late for Antonia, such being the name of the remorseful guard dog, to save the short-tailed dogs from extinction?
