With a rift linking 2013 to 1562 suddenly opened, the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) and the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) realize the world has come under invasion by a long-forgotten, shape-shifting alien race known as the Zygons - who have somehow escaped stasis in an antique painting, and have produced an exact double of Queen Elizabeth I (Joanna Page).
