The multiple thousands of pages of Foucault's work is dauntingly vast, and some of the english translations are arguably not of the best quality. In addition single terms are often very important and some of them translate poorly. Unlike Arnold Davidson, I will read little of Foucault in French since most of his work is already in English. However, in those instances where the English is problematic, I am glad to have in Dits et Ecrits the original, or at least close to the original for comparison. This volume and its companion Tome 2 satisfy my need for the French editions of the works published elsewhere besides his main books, and lectures.
