If such a gain measurement is to be useful in increasing confidence in the calculated gain, the uncertainty in the measurement must lie within the limits h 0. 3 decibel. Although it is difficult to analyze the errors and be certain of the limits of uncertainty, this is necessary if accurate results are required.
