About the author Sir Julian Paget was commissioned into the Coldstream Guards in 1941 and served for twentyseven years, both overseas and on ceremonial duties in London. In 1972 he was appointed a Gentleman Usher to the Queen and in the same year succeeded his uncle to a baronetcy, becoming the fourth Baronet. He has written a number of books on both history and ceremonial.
