A project in collaboration with participating families living with HIV. This book contains information about experiences, reflections, and recommendations that families infected with or affected by HIV wanted to share with other families who are facing similar challenges. The book is the result of a project in the late 1990s. Researchers at the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children joined with a team of researchers from hospital and community HIV programmes across Canada and 44 families who accessed their services to document family disclosures of HIV. The study looked at the subject from both perspectives, parents telling children and children learning about the family's HIV. It is not intended to be a 'how to' book, it is for people to learn from the experiences of others. It is aimed at families and support professionals.
