Seller's Description:
Good. Book. 12mo-over 6¾-7¾" tall. Very uncommon as the 1843 American Edition. Brown decorative hardcover boards with stamped designs, gilt lettering and gilt designs on the spine. Boards with heavy wear; edges torn; pages dusty with heavy foxing and soiling. As per Newman's preface, little is know of the author except that he was native to Hampshire and born about 1565. In 1605, owing to his eloquence as a preacher, King James made him a Prebendary of the Abbey Church of St. Peter's, Westiminster. These "godly meditations were popular books during the 17th Century. He died in 1629.
