A very little experience will show that it is not so, for, unless there are concurrent primaries in operation, lunar or secondary directions fre-quently pass with little or no result. Primary directions and transits appear to answer to all the more important events in life. At the same time we have to consider the duration of effects, and in regard to this it has been observed that the process of formation of an arc of direction should be considered. For the longer a direction may be in forming, the longer will those events endure which it signifies. One finds in experience, however, that men frequently trace years of toil and suffering to a sudden disaster overtaking them in a moment. In my theory of transits, this could not happen in earlier years, but might easily occur at maturity when the accumulated results of a man's labour were heaped around him. (See Transits.)
