They soon realized they were standing in the middle of what had been dinosaur nesting grounds. The scientists set up for a full investigation of the area. In addition to dinosaur eggs and embryos, the crew also discovered the fossilized bones of an adult dinosaur. With this information, and with the help of geologists who analyzed the rock layers around the site to date the findings, the scientists identified which dinosaurs laid the eggs?and which dinosaur predators lurked at the edges of the nesting site. In addition, they figured out what catastrophe not only killed the unborn dinosaurs, but also preserved the site for millions of years.
