For some lexical items this gives definitions, as an ordinary dictionary would. For others it dispenses with that and simply indicates some particular morphological feature, e.g., under "comediante," the entry just informs us what the feminine form is. For still others Seco provides fairly detailed discussions of preferred usage and common errors in usage, rather along the lines of what Fowler does for English. Seco's work, though quite useful, might have been improved by sticking to this last type of entry and dealing only with situations where this kind of discussion is relevant. The book is also rather pricey, but it does seem to be one of the best available alphabetically arranged guides to "correct" and "incorrect" usage (keeping in mind the limitations such categories entail). That's probably why it has survived into this tenth edition.
