Popular Hong Kong actor Elvis Tsui stars in this offbeat Category III splatter film from director Otto Chan, which features familiar horror set pieces like a killer cat thrown in a microwave, cannibal zombies, poisoned fingernail murders, and a group of spectral ghost-children who bounce a ball down some stairs in an homage to Mario Bava's cult favorite Operazione Paura. Not all of the film's scenes are so routine, as the story opens with Lam Kwok-kong (Tsui) having horrifying visions after surviving an absolutely hideous incident. Lam is a member of the SDU, Hong Kong's version of a SWAT team, and was involved in a quite literally abortive rescue mission in which a pregnant woman was hit in the back with a shotgun blast which caused her fetus to explode from her stomach and smack into Lam. Needless to say, this traumatic event and the resulting nightmares drive Lam to seek therapy from a beautiful psychiatrist, Dr. Mary Fu (Marianne Chan). Meanwhile, an evil sorcerer named Tsui Kam-lung (Ben Ng) has concocted a magical potion from spider venom which he administers to May (Cammy Choi), a struggling actress who soon becomes Tsui's slavish assassin, gorily murdering his enemies at his command. After May brutally murders a doctor and nurse, Lam is assigned to the case along with his partner Si-man (Ivy Leung). Tsui then casts a sex spell on Lam, turning him into a priapic sex maniac. After calming down a bit, Lam works with Si-man's grandmother (Helena Law) to determine that May will go after Mary next, since she was born on February 29th, which happens to be the same birthday as Tsui's late wife. Lam must work against time to save Mary before she can be killed for use as a vessel for the soul of the sorcerer's deceased spouse. Chan Kwok-pong co-stars. Robert Firsching, Rovi
