If you are looking for a serious, and even chatty description of the Kennedy Restoration, then this is the book for you. The work that Jackie Kennedy had done, beforehand, while recuperating from the birth of John, Jr, prepped her for working with the esteemed Stephane Boudin, of Jansen. With his influence and eye, he would jet over for consultations, and work with his New York office. While Henry Francis DuPont had his talents, his was governed by authenticity, rather than scale and proportion. Boudin won the day, and the results were mostly his. What impressed me was the sheer amount of detail and research, using Jansen's archives of historical papers, and designs. Working on this large scale, he made mock-ups of rooms, and the results were sheer perfection. The book also details the work of the esteemed Sister Parrish, whose talent was for a smaller, more intimate scale, rather than the State Rooms. But, she did a magnificent job on the Yellow Oval Room, the favorite of both Jackie and JFK, for foreign guests. But, done with some hidden wisdom from Boudin! Buy this book!
