English summary: How are the participants in the fire-fighting exercises of the fire department able to establish the "operation areas" through multimodal interactions? How do they make places, under the perspective of missions, first understandable and then usable as organizational venues? And what roles do old and new technical media play for orientation and navigation? The institutional practices and policies of firefighters with the new digital media, specifically (co-)developed for and by them (the so-called "Landmarks"), are analyzed as examples of this kind of interactive process and also contrasted with the settings with expressly customary tools. This investigation methodically connects Applied Linguistics research and the ethno-methodologically/ conversation-analytically shaped "Studies of Work" and "Workplace Studies."
