Former naval doctor Peter Crane is summoned to a remote oil platform in the North Atlantic to diagnose a bizarre medical condition. But when he arrives, Crane learns that the real trouble lies on "Deep Storm," a research facility on the ocean floor. Deep Storm has been designed for one purpose: to excavate a site that may hold the key to a mystery steeped in centuries-old myth. Dr. Crane makes the descent and learns that routine drilling has uncovered the remains of mankind's most sophisticated ancient civilization: Atlantis. But the excavation team has been blighted with illness and the more time Crane spends in this strange submerged world, the more he suspects the facility conceals something more sinister. The supposed discovery of Atlantis might, in fact, be a cover for something deadly... Lincoln Child's Deep Storm is a superbly imagined, chillingly real blend of scientific detail and gripping adventure: the most ambitious novel to date from a master of suspense.

An OK story.
This one didn't hold my interest like previous Lincoln Child books. Good story idea, but really died out quick after the initial attention grabber. He has done better and I look forward to the next one more than I enjoyed this one.

A good deep-sea adventure
Most of the earth?s deep oceans remain unexplored and open to a writer?s imagination. In this book, technological advances have made it possible for humans to live in the deepest valleys of the ocean floor and explore the strange anomalies found there. In a facility run by scientists and secured by the U.S. military you expect a clash of personalities, and you get it. If you enjoy under-water intrigue you will love following these characters as they unravel a deep-sea mystery and comprehend the consequences of their findings. While I didn?t find the book as ?harrowing? as claimed on the cover, it was an exciting story with a gripping ending.

THOUGHT-PROVOKING
Wow, Lincoln Child has succeeded in keeping me physically and emotionally involved in his latest book to the very last page and surprise ending. Child?s character development is also nothing short of awesome: I really lived the characters as I read.
Whenever Child and Douglas Preston merge their talents as ?brothers? on a novel, the reader is in for an exciting time; and the same holds true when they each write their own enthralling stories.
DEEP STORM has unexpected ramifications for things that we face in the world today, delivered in such a way that when I finished the book, thoughts and ideas provoked by the author swirled in my head. If your interest lies in the universe, computers, exploration, or just plain good writing, this book is for you and you are in for page-turning hours of high excitement.
