Michel Béroff and Jean-Philippe Collard are two solo pianists who frequently collaborate, with admirable results. Throughout the pieces, the two match each other in almost every way -- articulation, character or mood, coloring -- with only very minor differences. There are a few spots, most noticeably in Debussy's En blanc et noir, where there is the tiniest of echoes when they should be together, which could also be a result of the way the recording was done. In the opening movement of the Bizet, there appears to be a slight difference of opinion as to where to place the accented beats. The Debussy works and the Dukas are played by the pair with a more detached articulation and less pedal than the Ravel and Bizet. It's not quite the expected sound, and makes...
