This is the third book in the Bordelli series and now having read all three I can say that this is the best one I've read so far. This is so much more than a standard detective/mystery/procedural. The author has done extensive research into the post-war period in Italy as well as into the highly complicated relationship Italy had with the fascists and the allies toward the end of WWII.
More than that, Bordelli is a very complex character who attracts a very colorful cast of characters from all sides of Florentine society. There is also a sub-plot that takes you to Sardinia, a place that I knew little about as far as the mores and customs of this strange island. All and all, a worthwhile and involving read. I look forward, with great anticipation to the other books in this delightful series.
