Tried and convicted as a British spy, he was sentenced to "death plus ten years" in 1987 and remained under a death threat until January 1990. This book describes his experiences - his interrogation, his "confession", trial, attempts to learn about his sentence, his contacts with other prisoners, and conditions in the jail. He also describes his personal survival techniques and how he coped with post-traumatic stress disorder after his release, his views on hostage-taking, on Iran and on negotiating with Middle East agencies for the release of hostages.
