Sort of the epoch of Star Trek, simple effects, but incredibly funny. Looks like a satire to all-and-any(!) science fiction movies without specific reference.
Yes, there are long dialogues, but watch it twice and they are all in context. Brilliant.

TITLE: Dark Star
GENRE: SciFi - far future terran
CAST: Brian, Dre, Cal and Dan
PLOT: In a take-off of Douglas Adams' beginning of "Hitchhikers Guide
to The Galaxy", Earth space command has crews out blowing planets out of the way in case they might... blow up! Our descendents don't seem to be very bright judging by to this crew. A good case against drug culture. This is John Carpenter's College project!.!.!
RETURN ON INVESTMENT: 3 of 10; redeeming values are ... well they used
what sets they had well. This is.. ah .. a .. lot of the dialoge. A painted giant beach ball/tomato runs loose through the ship with a mind of it's own. Chuckle.
