This book has it all, mystery, thrills, horror, humor, sci-fi and fantasy. The characters are numerous and wonderful. You know many of these people. Two strangers enter town and strange things begin to happen. Upright members of society try to unlock the cause and meaning of these increasingly odd events while a wicked miser, weak attorney and their minions weave tangled webs of deceit and betrayal to beat the worthies in their quest and control an awesome power hidden for hundreds of years. One thing I really liked about the book is that the world presented is the result of a great cataclysm, the Sundering, but there is no great hardship because of it. These people have food, clean water, clothing and a vibrant society. Not to mention sabre cats, teratorns and mastadon. Great Fun.
