Events start to take on a sinister bent, as Alex and attractive pilot Laura are brought together to put the pieces of the puzzle of a murder and crashing planes together. Each must wade through their own tangled backgrounds to come through whole to the other side, but some baggage may prove too heavy to let go. The tide of events doesn't help any, either. The mystery of a woman beaten to death on base is compounded by a larger, looming conflict, and the two must cling to the few things they know to be true in order to survive. When a piece of alien technology threatens all the rules, Alex must work to avert the destruction it represents. In a world where there is treachery at every turn, Alex is keeping his enemies as close as possible.
