Carey's pseudonymously written essays gathered here include a particular examination of the economic theories of British financier, William Huskisson (1770–1830). Mathew Carey frequently wrote under a pseudonym. The present fourth edition reprints Carey's appendices to the two previous editions published earlier in 1826.
