The purpose is to sustain the dialogue on the good city and the good of the city that is implicit or a tacit feature of research and commentary on urban life, and to inquire systematically into the various ways in which this dialogue is engage, repressed or redefined in the everyday life of cities. Settings in Montreal, Toronto, Berlin and Dublin constitue sites for ethnographic and interpretive research.
