Seller's Description:
Very Good. In stiff illustrated wrappers with wonderful color lithgraph on cover. 198 pages in Very Good condition. Historically significant collection of stories by the Cuban writer Virgilio Pinera (1912-1979) which was originally published in Buenos Aires in 1956 and is considered his most important work. Octavo, 191pp. First edition of this landmark collection of stories. Drawing on surrealist and absurdist traditions, Pinera here produces a harrowing, and yet farcical, inferno; like Dante's both hot and cold--but cold, very cold, in the lower regions. A very good copy in publisher's illustrated self-wrappers. Spine darkened, and with a one-inch piece loose at the tail. Foxing to covers and end papers, but internally clean.
