Not Jack Higgins at the height of his career, but a very good book of his early years. It a story of the Irish troubles when bombs and mass murder was considered unthinkable acts to do in their struggle against the British. In other words it is a more innocent time, when a hero faces a an army with a only a gun and not a bomb. A time when the hero and his lady can escape the violence and enjoy the simple emerald island country side with all its magic.
This is a great book to have for your collection if you are a fan of Irish fiction for it gives a reader a real feeling and understanding of the people of Ireland during the sixities. It is also a great read for Jack Higgins fans for it allows them to compare the young Jack Higgins to the current Jack Higgins and how the great Jack Higgins developed his craft over time.
