This book is an excellent look into the the personal history of this Cambodian poet and his struggles to stay alive during turbulent years in his country.
Ouer is an idealist who fervently wants democracy for his country, but must be very careful about expressing his views. This is a very comprehensive and personal view of Cambodia's political history from the 1950s to the present time.
As a collector of books about Cambodia, ancient and modern, I found this one of the best books I've seen on recent history.
