Mental Health and Value Systems The two studies which comprise this volume, Identity and Mental Hbalth and Value Systems, constitute the first two Cross Cultural Studies in Mental Health produced by the Scientific Committee of the World Federation for Mental Health. Chrono logically, Identity appeared first, being published privately in 19 57, but since it had'only a very narrow circulation the oppor tunity has been taken to republish it with its successor. The Committee has varied slightly in composition between the two studies. For Mental Health and Value Systems, the Committee has been joined by Dr. David Levy, Professor E. F. O'doherty, and Professor Paul Sivadon. Unfortunately Professor D. Lagache has been unable to take part in the latter study and Professor W. Line has been able to participate only by correspondence.
