Seller's Description:
Very good condition. Book. 12mo-over 6¾"-7¾" tall. Signed by Author(s) [xiv], 912 pages of text including an index. Maroon leather binding is moderately shelfworn and slightly darkened on the spine. Previous owner's engraved bookplate "Copley Amory" on the inside front cover, and "Amory" in gilt at the bottom of the spine. Inscribed and signed by the author on a front endpaper "To Henry S. Russell with the love of Robert Morris Copeland." Illustrated with a two-page tinted lithographed frontis map, nine plates, and numerous in-text illustrations. This is the important Fifth edition, mainly because it includes a supplemental chapter titled "City Areas" which is one of the earliest sources of information on how small city yards and narrow deep house lots were landscaped in post-war America. Roof gardens are also discussed. The text has been slightly trimmed when rebound circa 1875. The text is clean and unmarked. Fifth edition.
